VASKY x MAAPPI

I collaborated twice with the Czech company Vasky, which carries on the legacy of the world-renowned entrepreneur from Zlín, Tomáš Baťa. It was a great honor for me to be able to contribute to this legacy.

On the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the founding of the city of Zlín—where it all began—a limited edition of 30 pairs of shoes was created. They were exceptional for their design, which was very characteristic of my work at the time. I reimagined the city’s transit map through my own perspective, keeping it functional yet completely different.

A year later, on the occasion of the anniversary of the events of November 17 (the Velvet Revolution), a special limited edition Vasky x Maappi collection was created, allowing people to celebrate with every step that we now live in a free country. The leather Teny sneakers were decorated with a map of significant places in Prague where history was written in 1989. In each of the 150 pairs, a distinctive illustration came together with the craftsmanship of honest shoemaking.
