In 2016, Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week introduced perhaps the youngest designer in its history. I was only 12 years old at the time, and thanks to my mother’s idea, I got a glimpse into the world of fashion and charity. My metro maps became the foundation for the collection Autista pro autisty (“Autistic for Autistics”), which took shape with the help of leading Czech fashion designers Kateřina Geislerová, Michal Kováčik, and Tereza Vu.
The idea to connect Matěj’s drawings with fashion came from the documentary Dior and I, which captures the first collaboration between the famous fashion house Dior and designer Raf Simons, who at the time drew inspiration from art and paintings, printing their forms onto fabrics.
This small collection pushed me forward once again and, above all, showed that people with autism can contribute to society and can be integrated. The collection was supported by Mercedes-Benz, which also donated a significant financial amount to a foundation supporting families of children with autism.
